Was using matte paper a mistake? Alternatives?

Hi Everyone:

After buying my printer, I was really enthusiastic about using Hahnemuhle's Bamboo paper. It has a very special feel to it. But now I am realizing it has some disadvantages. I am printing macros at 10x15 on the 3880, mostly close-ups of insects taken with the SD15 and Sigma's 105mm macro lens. The images are actually quite good and most are quite colorful. The problem with the matte bamboo paper, is that the images have a slightly duller feel about them, and also, because of the warm tinge the blues get washed out. The latter issue is a major one for me, as many of the shots show the contrast between bright orange bees or yellow wasps and blue thistle plants. It can be quite spectacular, but not with this paper. The problem is that I don't like intense glossy paper either.

So can anyone recommend a "semi glossy" paper, that might have a bit of an artistic feel to it, which is what attracted me to the bamboo paper in the first place? Thanks!

-Charles
