Topaz is your friend. but for practicality, I do not think that make sense to crop for digital viewing on tv. this is exactly point why pictures are always best printed, on canvas or portrait. people look and appreciate more on something hanging than on TV no matter size or even personal use. done that with digital picture frame, done that with hdtv. just not same appeal and lack beauty compare to print quality.  unless hang 3-4 tv for showcasing pictures only, then ok. but use as screensaver or wallpaper for tv personal use in family room do not have much appeal.
