Prime combination versus zoom

I have a Nikon D600 with a Nikon 50mm F1.8 prime. I have been shooting with this combination for almost a year to re-learn the basics of photography. I would now like to broaden my horizons. My budget is about $1100 (give or take about $100). I am having a tough time deciding between a) the Nikon 24-120mm F4 or b) the combination of the Nikon 85mm F1.8 AND the new Nikon 35mm F1.8 (assuming the reviews are good). Any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you.
