My First Mirrorless Experience: Panasonic GH2
Dec 28, 2013

Hi,
I am from India and have been lurking on this forum for the past 2-3 months before the release of the GX7 as I excited about that camera. I work at a Video production company where we 99%of the time use the 5D Mark III. The Camera is bulky but the image quality makes up for it. But it gets tiring carrying lens bag with those L lenses (I am 22 years Old :-|).
So one day i borrowed an GH2 from the Office for One day as nobody has touched that camera for the past 2 years . The first thing i tried was the EVF as I am used to OVF and found it to be very noisy in indoor situation (Myfirst EVF experience). Otherwise i found the EVF to be good enough in good lighting. The eye sensor sometimes didn't work when i tried to see through my right eye Not a big problem though as looking through my left eye worked flawlessly.
The handling is also great and since it is not a heavy camera i didn't have any issues carrying it around :-D. Even my friends were eager to try the camera unlike the other time when i brought my Canon 500D They were also not conscious when i was taking pictures of them which is a big plus. I found the Auto focus to be pretty quick for my needs but i need to test it more TBH. I found the Video quality better than that of a Canon APS-C Camera. I also like the feedback when one presses the shutter button on a mirroless camera than on a DSLR I really like the feel.
The battery life is probably the most worst thing about the GH2 as i am used to the great battery life of a DSLR. Even though I am not a pixel peeper but I found it noisier compared to my 500D at high ISO@1600. I didn't like the 20mm manual focusing for video The 25mm on the other hand is awesome
So how much improvement can i expect with regards to IQ of the GX7 compared to the GH2?
