Great product - AF for Sigma lenses don't seem to function
Re: Unfair to Penalize Canon for Sigma shabby work
I think you are being somewhat harsh there, sigma is supposed to predict the future somehow? It is a change in the AF algorithm, or perhaps that the newer camera can detect that the lens is a sigma and refuses to work. Third party lenses will sometimes report as a first party lens id, and if that first party lens is dropped then the third party one will also cease to work.
Granted it isn't a great situation, but if canon wanted a level playimg field they would license out the af algorithms, but clearly they dont. In the past they should have had no fear, sigma lenses were clearly a lesser/cheaper alternative..now that seems to have changed since the sigma primes can clearly compete with the canon lenses.
