Once you get into this photography malarkey, is it compulsory to go a bit nuts?

Update: So I decided on the 12-50 lens. But then, having had it for a couple of weeks, and enjoying using it, I'm hankering for the amazing quality of the 12-40 and wondering if i can get over the weight and bulk of it after all.

The shop where I bought the camera has offered me a great deal on the 12-40, so I've decided to go with both of them for a couple of weeks, then make a decision to stick with one and sell the other. I guess you can read as many opinions as you like, but in the end, the only way to really know what you want is to give the different options as much of a good go as you possibly can.

Thanks again for all the comments. I've only been at this a few weeks and have already a) become and bit obsessed and b) learned so much, both from messing with my new camera and with reading posts on this forum!
