The EXIF shows that this was shot at f2.8 - maximum aperture.  It looks like it was focused toward the back wall, which is sharp and detailed, and is probably why the foreground is noticeably soft.  This may be the result of a combination of shallower DOF and the aperture not giving the lens' strongest performance (though that's a guess because I don't know that lens).  If you wanted a sharp foreground and near corners, re-shooting at around f8 might achieve that for you.  You might have to resort to a tripod though.....
