The RX100 only goes to 10mm (28mm equivalent wide), so unless your RX100 has a 9mm f/1 lens you aren't going to beat the 24mm f/2.8 on full frame.

I agree that the included sample is not terribly sharp, but even the RX100 shows a lot of compromise with the lens.  Tripod at f/11 and be sure to focus accounting for any field curvature etc could help the 24mm shot, a close up at 24mm f/2.8 would be vastly different than what you could do with the RX100.
