No, you have a good point about the 60 on a crop sensor camera.  The OP sounds like he is going to a FF format where a 60 would be too short.  I still stick with the 105 DC as the best portrait lens available on a FF body.  You can control the OOF areas to get the effect you want.  Since it's f/2, your depth of field can be limited to the eyes if the subject warrants.

Too sharp...there is no such thing!  If the subject warrants a bit of OOF, then add some blur using a PP tool.  If the OP stays with a crop sensor, I think a 60 would be great.  My last crop sensor was a D300.  Right now, I have a D800 and Df.  I really like working with those bodies.
