Internet Explorer 11 is *far* quicker than Chrome 29 and Firefox 26

Check for yourself:

Test bench:, an open source web perf load test project, available on GitHub:

Test target:, an arguably well-served web site that is also effective (content is meaningful etc) and popular. The goal is to meter the page load and rendering times of several browsers.

Step 1: Start your browser, go to

Step 2: Discard the splash-screen by clicking the [x] at the top-right, or by clicking "Try my own matchup"

Step 3: Click the "Settings" link at the top, then set the test mode to "Serial", so the two sides don't compete with each other (since we want to test the browser, not the site)

Step 4: type on both sides (in the input boxes at the top left and right of the window)

Step 5: Click the "Repeat" link at the top, select the "100 times" option, then click the "GO" button.

Step 6: Let it run undisturbed, and carefully record the numbers (of course, the test will say "It's a tie", since we are loading on both sides, what interests us is the time, and the left/right averages should be pretty close).

Now carefully repeat the same 6 steps with another browser (take care of using the same window size (e.g. maximized) so the render area is as close as possible between browsers).

My results with the above steps:

Internet Explorer 11: 151ms

Google Chrome 29: 338ms (2.2x slower than IE)

Mozilla Firefox 26: 458ms (3x slower than IE and 1.35x slower than Chrome)

All back to back on Win7x64 Intel i7
