Re: samsung nx20 in the studio

Hi - promised I would report on my results in using the NX20 in the studio.   To be frank, it wasn't the happiest of experiences. Problem 1 was the autofocus, which wouldn't work in the low light cast by modelling lights. I had to revert to Manual Focus. Not the end of the world, but a bit of a nuisance.   Problem 2 was RAW processing time, which kept making me pause in shooting. I switched to jpeg and this worked fine, but I much prefer to work in RAW.

To summarise, using the NX20 in the studio was not impossible, but not a smooth experience.  When one thinks this camera originally sold for around £900 in the UK, it was somewhat disappointing.

Actually, I bought the camera for non studio shooting because its light, small and has a decent size sensor and pixel count, and it works admirably outside the studio. I'm still glad I bought it, especially at the much lower price its now available at.   But if Samsung want to compete with Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Sony, I feel they must improve both the AF sensitivity and the processing speed in RAW.
