Imaging Resources is/are pretty impressed the Stylus 1 and ever since my Nikon CP8400 failed (after six years of light duty) I've been a bit wary of "compacts".  As much as I'd like to get a Stylus 1, if something fails I don't have the support that you guys in the US have (a function of a large and competitive market).

A good compact is never going to compete with MFT bodies, but they are versatile in that they are a bit easier to carry about (and that's one of the secrets of grabbing "keepers").

So what does one do ?

We learn that camera-bodies are disposable (more so thesedays since most are assembled in China !) so rather invest in good glass and dump the bodies, if need be.

A sad reflection of the state of modern mass production.
