Re: Not likely good for focus tracking

Cheap cameras, especially old and cheap cameras, aren't very good about that, and the results will be worse if you stick a cheap lens on the camera.

The T3 is an entry level DSLR. It is not an expensive camera but to suggest it is a 'cheap camera' is pushing things. WalMart is full of cheap cameras that are $200 or less. This is not one.

Who makes a "T3" camera, is it a dSLR, and what lenses can you get for it?

It's made by a little company called Canon. I wonder if you have heard of them? They have been in business now for two or three years, or is it more like 60 or 70, and they sell more cameras than any other company on the planet.

Yes, the T3 is a DSLr. And being a Canon DSLr one can probably get as many lenses for it as for any other camera. Maybe more - and I'm not talking about cramming other brands' lenses on with an adapter and using them in fully manual mode, I'm talking about lenses designed to work with that camera in all ways, made by Canon but also third party lens makers like Tamron.

Focus tracking in dim lighting conditions requires both a body and a lens that can focus quickly and accurately.

The T3 has phase-detect AF for one thing, which will put it ahead of any NEX or other mirrorless camera at both autofocus in low-light and tracking.

Another useful feature is a large memory buffer that can store more than Click, click, click, click, click, click, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, click.

No lower-line camera is going to have a large memory buffer. The OP is shooting photos of a baby and some very small children. I doubt that he needs a deep buffer to burst-shoot toddlers frolicking in the family room.

I'm not saying the T3 is the best camera for him, but it would be helpful to start from a position of knowing something about it.
