Re: Any ideas whats wrong with my 1000D

Apologies, I have been away for a couple of days.

Sorry I just picked a photo from the SD card for the first one, quite right looks totally like user error (i.e.my fault). Second one was of a white wall with power socket I took to check how dark it was coming out. I have already bought a 600D as a replacement (they are selling them off hear for about 230 sterling so I grabbed one) so the 1000D is certainly not necessary but it would be good to fix as a spare.

When the fog lifts outside I will try to take the same photo with the 600D on auto, match the 600Ds settings on the 1000D for comparison and take the scene also with the 1000D on auto. That should give 3 decent comparison photos.

Since I haven't had any replies from people who have also had this problem I'm assuming its quite rare and I'm trying to think of something which could cause the problem without stopping the camera working fully. Im actually thinking it may be one of the following.

1, loose internal connection - but would have thought that this would cause either intermittent problems of total failure.

2, failure of the metering system meaning it can't meter levels properly.

3, movement of one of the parts in front of the sensor, micro lenses or bayer filter? are these moved by the dust prevention/removal system? Im thinking that maybe this has cause something to go out of alignment reducing the light landing on a pixel (which may also explain the higher green levels than red or blue).

Thoughts?
