Concert photography: The Alfonz Band

Very nice job capturing the visual quality of the concert.

The inclusion of the stage lights and color in the smoke really captures that mood.

The second shot is a beautiful low key image.  Once again inclusion of the stage light adds a lot.  The lines of the light, roughly perpendicular to the lines of the mike and guitar, create nice movement around the frame.

Third image does not have the quality of many of the others.  Maybe too close of a crop.  Mike enters the frame in an awkward way.

Fourth image. Another really good image here. Some of the good qualities are gradation of light from upper left to lower right, repeating lines of mike stand and amp set at the main diagonal of the image with line of guitar crossing it, great balance of visual weight of face, guitar and hands set against greater space of darkness at opposite corner.

Sixth image is better than the third, but mike is still a little too strong of an element.  Though greater amount of negative space, along with posture of singer does a lot.

eighth image lacks enough contrast to be effective.

Twelfth image is once again a great low key image.  I like the repeated highlights in the accordion, the isolation of the subject, and enough light to read some of the key features.

Fourteenth image.  Nice to see the more front lighting that allows clarity of the subject set off by the contrast of the bright fog and dark background.  The highlight on the rim of the cap against the darkness creates strong visual interest.  The fog running along the main diagonal helps make a strong composition.
