AF phenomenon on the 70D: Can anyone explain?

Thanks for the test... Does flexizone choose the AF point on its own? Did you use phase AF via the viewfinder?

My tests were really particular: manual AF point selection, middle field, long distance and so on. So I really can't say if the drawers were inside the point's reach. It definitely *is* larger than seen in the viewfinder, but can it be THAT large?
