Moving up from Galaxy S2 (camera and phonewise)
Dec 18, 2013
Hi,
I am currently using a SGS2 since launch, which is 2.5 years now. I'm now on my second battery and with low usage I could get 14 hours from the phone-which is just enough for me to use throughout the day. I'd struggle to get 8 hours with heavy usage. The phone's been submerged once, and sand/dust got into the camera over time. I managed to fix both using guides from the internet.
Things I want in a phone are:
-Great camera. I think fast shutter speed or dedicated camera button should help. Sometimes if I takes pics in a hurry with the S2 and I get blurry images. This happens more often than I like. However I would like AP or slow shutter speeds on a camera phone so I can take pictures of stars for example.
-Great display. On par or better than the Super AMOLED S2 display.
-Great battery life with changeable battery. I plan to use a phone at least 3 years if not more. Also, if I like a phone, chances are I'll stick with it a long time. The only problem I see with sticking with the same phone for 3 years or more is it is slightly hard to find replacement batteries.
-Good OS. I don't mind touchwiz TBH. I have a Nexus 7, so I'm familiar with stock android.
-at least 16 gb internal if it does not have a SD card slot.
Things currently wrong with the S2
- Rare random freezes. Seems related more with memory.
-"insufficient memory" even though I have an SD card onboard . Cured by using a clean master app
Are the current high end Android phones like the Sony Z1, HTC One, SGS4 offer vast superior image quality compared to the S2? I actually like the Z1, however I don't like the idea of not being able to change the battery. I also like the HTC One's build quality a lot. Also, weirdly at 3.2mp my old Sony Experia C510 cybershot phone generally takes better pics compare to the S2. I'm not sure why, but it just is. Maybe its the shutter button or the colour profile. No idea. I am in no rush to upgrade the phone. I believe only the LG G2 has optical stabilization in the camera on current gen smartphones?
Unfortunately I cannot consider iphone as I've invested a lot in Android apps.
Thank you
