Ordering Lens from Japan
Earlier this year I purchased the Panasonic 12-35mm and 35-100mm from DigitalRev out of Hong Kong. Total price at the time out the door with free FedEx Friday to the following Monday shipping was $2,138 total (which was exceptionally good at the time). The purchase and entire transaction was flawless, and sometime later FedEx billed me the duty charges of a little over $60. I only wish my U.S. Dealer purchases were as fast and easy (well, Amazon Prime is exceptional too, but now I pay sales tax too).
Make sure you have a dealer with a great reputation and I'd have no fear of Hong Kong Dealers. Duty charges are pretty cheap. I'm going to buy a couple of Voigtlander lenses in January that way.
P.S. Most all use PayPal too.
