Hi all

Long time viewer on here but never really posted.

I have probably they most low budget M43 set up possible!

E-PL1

MMF1 (or maybe 2 -cannot remember)

43rds 40-150mm

14-42mm v1 - with lost lens cap even!

This set up has seen me right with travel all over the world but has some major drawbacks eg focus speed, low light ability, poor screen etc etc.

Anyway the great news is that I am going to be a father soon and want to get some nice pics of my first child as the grow up so am thinking about what is the best "bang for my buck" in terms of upgrades to my gear.

My initial thought is to get a new prime lens, and to me the candidates are:

Lumix 20mm

Pan/Leica 25mm

Oly 17mm F1.8

Oly 45mm

Or a bit more left field

Wait for the rumored Oly 25mm F1.8

Sigma 30 or 60mm

Or would I et better value by upgrading to say an E-PM2 or G5/6 or GX1 (and kit lens).

At the moment my pref would be the 25mm, but the 45mm seems better value.

I'm keen for people to let me know for the task I'm after i.e documenting my baby's first year or two of life - what I should go for?

Cheers

The Olympus 17mm would be good, nice and fast, slightly wider than the 20mm as well.

If your prepared to use flash the Sigma 19mm would be a good budget replacement for the 17 or 20mm.

The Olympus 45mm would be another good choice.

Silent shutter, not sure why this is being recommended, its not going to be of any real use.

A separate flash unit would be good, much better than the little supplied unit and this can be bounce or directed off a wall, not that direct flash is harmful in anyway, don`t be afraid to use flash.
