On crop sensor if you really want to go wide, 8mm or 10mm is a good choice. 14mm is a great landscape lens for full frame cameras. You have a Sigma 8mm on the market and also a Samyang 10mm and 14mm that will give you pretty decent quality at a reasonable price. The fact is that the TS lens bring much more to the table than sharpness. Otherwise Peter can also use a 10-22mm zoom which is pretty good and stoped down to f9-16 can compare to a prime.
