Olympus TTL bounce flash metering - need some advice

I'm using a Metz 58 AF-2 in TTL mode. The flash is mounted on-camera and pointed at a white ceiling for bounce. For comparison, I also have a Nikon D700 with an SB-700 flash.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the Olympus camera's flash metering decisions. It seems slightly inconsistent from shot to shot. Skin is often slightly over-exposed. It seems consistently inconsistent between the E-PM2 and E-M1. The flash takes a long time to recycle, which tells me perhaps it's using more power than necessary.

I'm interested in solving this problem so I can finally get rid of all the Nikon gear.

Does anybody here have experience moving from Nikon to Olympus who perhaps can relate to what I'm experiencing and how to fix it?

Thanks
