Anyone using an 8mm fisheye with a KM DSLR?

I'm currently using a Sony A77 and when I need UWA I use the sweep panorama mode. The problem is that whenever there are moving subjects in the frame (e.g. people) the result is not so great. As a solution I'm considering to get a Samyang 8mm fisheye and attach it "permanantly" to my old KM 7D (which is currently sitting in the closet). This way, when I'm traveling I can get an ultra-wide picture quickly, without having to switch lenses. Hopefully there are users of this lens and a KM DSLR who may be able to provide some insight about the following points:

  • Exposure accuracy. The lens has no electronics and does not communicate with the camera. is exposure accurate enough?
  • Dim viewfinder. If I stop it down to f/8.0, is the viewfinder still bright and clear enough to compose conveniently? I assume I'll use range focusing, so I'm less worried about this aspect.
  • Resolution. Is a well-processed 6MP RAW file taken with this lens competitive with a 24MP "sweep-panoramed" JPEG? The latter are normally a bit soft when viewed at 100% magnification. In contrast, I don't recall any of my 6MP pictures taken with the 7D to be soft (when in focus and using the optimum aperture).
  • Weight. Is a 1KG (2 pound) 7D+8mm combo worth caring when traveling, over using the sweep panorama mode?

Thanks in advance,

Prog.
