For me, I see a small, portable, HIGH quality camera as integral to my future. My wife and I have a 16 month old daughter and plans to add another child sometime soon. We really enjoy documenting our lives via photography and video. We also HIGHLY value convenience. Carrying a DSLR - a 60D in our case - with one kid (much less a second some time in the near future) is quite simply, a MAJOR hassle. As it is, if we're out and about, I carry the M + 2 lenses. If we have a destination we're excited about, the DSLR comes instead. Birthday parties (we go to tons of them) waffle back and forth as far as cameras go. If it's a family we know well, it's the DSLR. If not, the M.
I'm tired of the compromise and rather than my cameras duplicating each other image quality wise, I'm ready to have them differentiated - that would justify carrying the DSLR or even both systems with me. I'm ready to buy an M with the DPAF sensor as well as a Full Frame DSLR (I've got my eye on the 6D).
So for me, option 4 was the one that made the most sense
Wait 6 months to a year to import the DPAF body - I want the price to drop some (or substantially) before buying because I never pay full price and/or if I'm going to get less (no home-country warranty) I expect to pay less.
My wait for a lower price would be based on the warranty issue and that I'm currently fairly happy with my setup.
If Canon doesn't make and/or Canon USA doesn't carry a DPAF M, I'll be pretty bummed.
6D + m are a great 1-2 combo, with lenses that can work across the cameras. I find the 50/1.4 and 85/1.8 a lot of fun on the M. I'm now thinking about 100mm macro.
