Re: The Lens I Wish Nikon Made: 45mm 2.8 Pancake

Nikon did make a 45mm 2.8 AI-P pancake lens in the early 2000s. If Nikon would make another run of them, with no changes, I would buy one, but an update, with a bit of weather-sealing and AF, which would obviously be somewhat larger, would be my realistic near-term wish.

Being a dual-platform shooter, I can enjoy the Canon EF 40mm 2.8 STM on a Canon DSLR, but it would be nice to see Nikon respond with a pancake that offers something Canon does not, such as weather-sealing, or at least better build quality. For walking about in a city, a pancake lens on an SLR is a relatively light, handy package.

I wear a badge and pistol, and, primarily with 7D cameras, with 10-22mm and 100mm Macro L lenses, shoot evidentiary images at night, which incorporates elements of portrait, macro, still life, landscape, architecture, PJ, and occasional action. During personal time, I enjoy using both Canons and Nikons.
