Shooting in temperatures well below zero F has never been a problem for me in the winter--except for the fingers--with the 450D and 60D.

Follow the advice of others about bringing the camera/lenses into a warm, humid environment (car or house) when the equipment is really cold; keep a spare battery warm, and you should be just fine.

Edit: Also be aware of breathing on your camera too when looking through the viewfinder. It can get kinda frosty. Not really a "problem" as you can just wipe it off with a clean cloth, but it messes up your viewing through the OVF and the LCD.
