Faulty X-E2 and or 18-55? Problem with changing aperture in Aperture-Priority (A)

Hi!

I just got my brand new, long awaited camera yesterday. Did some quick snapshots and today I'd have some more fun with it and study the manual.

I seem to have a faulty X-E2 and or lens.

According to the manual, page 39:

I set the X-E2 in "A" on the Shutter Speed Dial and the Aperture mode switch on the lens (18-55/2.8-4 IOS) IN THE OTHER option than "A" - looks like aperture blades. Okey, now I'm supposed to be able to change aperture by rotating the aperture ring on the lens. In the EVF/LCD I see a white “A” with a read square around.

BUT! When i turn the aperture ring, the only thing that happens is that the aperture switches between two apertures, often 3.6 and 4 back and forth. It doesn't matter which direction i turn the aperture ring!

Though, in “P” mode, I can change aperture by turning the command dial.

I have tried to reset the camera in all possible ways i could think of. I’ve removed the battery, removed the lens. Turned the camera on and off.

Have I completely misunderstood how to use Aperture-Priority (A)? Or is it something wrong with my camera and or lens?

Please help me!

Pär
