as for the one card slot, I know a lot of pros refuse to use the d700 because of this limitation...

Why stop at dual slots? Let's do triple slots! If there was such a camera, would there be anybody self-absorbed enough to think that their work is so important, so earth shattering, so vital to the advancement of human-kind that they cannot afford to lose it?

I'm just pointing out the silliness in the mindset that their work is so important that only dual slot cameras are worthy of their time. But then again, I don't shoot for money.

It's not silliness.

I regularly travel to remote parts of Australia in small (and sometimes very old) propeller planes. I'm always more comfortable flying in a plane which has two engines rather than one...

There is definitely advantage of two card slots over one and because (on a camera) it's such an easy thing to implement, it just seems plain dumb to not have it.

It's not feat of engineering ingenuity, nor is it expensive to implement. And, just because they didn't have it in previous generation cameras doesn't mean we shouldn't keep improving.

Also, not all camera features have to be "vital to the advancement of human-kind".

Seriously??? You're seriously comparing having two engines on a plane to having two card slots on an enthusiast camera?

In one case you may die..in the other you may lose those pictures of your wife on vacation you took that day.

Ever had to deal with the brides' mother after you lost the whole wedding shoot to a faulty card?

Hmmm, thought so
