I was tempted by $679 EM5 body ($767 with tax). Is there any benefit other than the 5 axis IBIS in upgrading from my EPM2 / VF-4? I do not have any weather sealed lenses. My concerns are complaints of EM5 buttons / handling (EPM2 is no better I guess) and inferior viewfinder compared to VF-4.

To paraphrase my buddy who uses this expression every day, people who complain about the EM5 viewfinder and buttons  would ask for ice water in hell.

Handling is like automatic with power steering. You get a mode dial. You have one wheel to adjust aperture or shutter, and the other for exposure compensation. You get a Fn1 and Fn2 button.

You're getting a nice tilt screen on the EM5. So many people complain about the EPM1-EPM2, and EPL2-ELP5 screen being too small. I'm not one of them. The tilt screen is good enough that it's rare that direct sunlight blocks the screen, plus it allows you to take those low shots easily.

5-axis video will stabilize your videos where EPM2 IBIS has to be turned off.
