I've not had the black versions, but there's likely a difference between the 45 and 75 due to the fact that the 45 is largely plastic where the 75 is apparently all-metal. I have a silver 45 that is unmarked after a significant degree of use over the last 20 months. It's probably painted on top of a light-colored plastic, but I haven't done a scratch-n-sniff test to find out. But hard plastic is pliable compared to most metals, reducing the likelihood of a cracking or flaking paint issue.

My silver 75 is also unmarked, with a lesser degree of use. I expect it's just painted, but whatever the process used it produces a durable enough finish that I'd just buy the color you want. Certainly scratches on the black version would be more visible if they are deep enough to show metal. You'd have to really mark up a silver one before it would be noticeable without effort.

You might try perusing for-sale photos of silver versions to see how they've held up. The only black ones I've seen posted for sale here are new lenses.
