You won't find "space age" composites in the Df. It's pretty simple plastic.

I can tell you with a great deal of confidence that a mag alloy chassis is much stronger than mag plated plastic (especially for knocks to the lens mount).

My knowledge on material characteristics tell me that plastic inherently has better elasticity than metal, even though resistance to initial deformation is lower. But this is certainly not my area of expertise.
