I already posted this thread in this forum: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/52579940, but thought maybe I'd get more responses here:
I've been trying out an 85/1.2 this past weekend with the 1DX. I started to adjust the AF microadjustment settings and noticed that it seems to require a fair amount, around +15 maybe +20. (Admittedly, I haven't had to do any microadjustment with e.g. 24-70/2.8; it seemed to work fine without any).
Have people noticed that some lenses require more microadjustment than others? Is this something that I should expect to do with the 85/1.2 (whereas not so much with the 24-70/2.8)?
Thanks.
Well the extremely narrow depth of field at f/1.2 is going to emphasise any errors that may not be evident at f2.8 (and you are not quite comparing apples with apples either with regards to focal length).
If you haven't already read it have a look at this article:

and the follow up:

That's a good article.
Also saw some comments from 2010 about the 85/1.2 here: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2767345
