Sony 85SAM 2.8 versus Sigma 85 1.4

Have an opportunity to acquire a good condition used copy of the Sigma.
Already have the cheap plastic fantastic Sony.
Am wondering how much of an upgrade the Sigma will be? I know it's faster, so better in low light. I know the HSM motor should mean the Sigma focuses a lot faster than the Sony.
Can I expect better control of CA and PF with the Sigma? What about sharpness/resolution and contrast? The cheap Sony really is pretty darn sharp.
Any views welcome as i am not able to test drive the used lens before purchase. Thanks !
p..ss - don't suggest I get the Sony CZ - can't afford it !-- hide signature --

... is better than the Sony 85mm f/2.8 in every way that you have mentioned, especially magenta/green fringing and sharpness.
The only negative is the weight/size, however that is the price for all the improvements and glass elements included.
