Hello Ted

thanks for bringing facts into this.

Sigma WILL announce a camera that beats the new Sony and the D800/E resolution wise. It will be FF, with the same sensor density as with the SD1.

Since the word "resolution" was not defined, I'll assume that sensor spatial resolution was meant.

If so, $50 says you're wrong

SD1 "FF": (7186px/2)/35.9mm = 100 lp/mm linear resolution at the sensor.

D800/A7R: (7360px/2)/35.9mm = 102.5 lp/mm linear resolution at the sensor.

Therefore, D800 & A7R win by virtue of a lower pixel pitch.

I thought in the same direction as when the SD1 came out it had 15x3 = 46MP equalled about 30MP Bayer equivalent, better than anything else at the time.

With something like 34x3 = 100 it would equal about 70MP Bayer equvalent.

My prediction, FWIW:

Sigma WILL NOT announce a camera that beats the new Sony and the D800/E resolution wise.

Its worth as much as mine.
