Nikon's Future Path

If I read this correctly, the line will be contracting or phasing out older models in place of those that have a better profit margin.

For new cameras, what concerns me with this drive for higher profit per camera is that it comes only with raising prices, lowering features, lowering quality, or some combination of the three.

The Df may be the last high quality camera from Nikon until they see a more aggressive market return and there is probably little hope of a price cut or rebate in the near future.

There is a thin line between cutting back costs and keeping innovative enough to maintain market share.  The danger is if Canon or other companies seize the moment to push more innovative products they might be able to chip away at Nikon's market share.

Then again, the whole Q&A session is only marketing rhetoric, so it all remains to be seen.
