RX100 II Hotshoe
I don't know if shorting the contacts will cause damage but it looks like it's unlikely that you would do so with a hot shoe mounted viewfinder. It looks like there is a stop at either end of the row of contacts that will prevent this (they're under the two side lips of the shoe just where the springs end). Unless your finder's mount protrudes in the center, it won't be able to reach the contacts. In fact, the Voigtlander finder I have has a mount that doesn't project beyond the rest of the finder, so it doesn't even reach under the lip of the hot shoe.
