Spot on… Sony should have put in IBIS.. and IMHO the DF is a monstrosity,

Agreed. Wonder how much Olympus would have charged to license it? Surely there are patents around it.

Lens IS would get around that but it doesn't look like their primes have any built in and arguably you shouldn't need IS for shorter focal lengths. But as Pekka and others have noticed, IS is useful for ALL focal lengths.

But he doesn't seem to mention the Sony/Zeiss 24-70 f/4 OSS at all, which is a puzzling omission.

Interesting to read that IBIS nullifies the FF 2 stop advantage but of course in bright situations, the advantage comes back.

To be clear, IBIS, VR, IS or OSS, in body or optical stabilization are only useful for static subjects. For moving subjects there is no replacement for fast shutter speeds, which is why the 2 stop advantage of the A7R is actually more of an advantage than IBIS.

One keeps hearing about the 2 stop advantage declared as if some kind of truth.

Then you go to DxO and could not find it

2 stops is what you get by assembling 4x m43 sensors to form an FF sensor. Real FF sensors are not yet that efficient, assuming a comparison with the best m43 sensors.
