Personally, I'm wondering whether the SEL20F28 + UWA might be a good "in between" option. The SEL20 seems to be a much better lens.

My only reluctance is that I don't think the SEL20 was specifically designed to work with the UWA, and -- while it does -- I'm not clear on whether there are significant compromises in sharpness and performance. Certainly I've seen examples of the SEL20+UWA that seem promising...

Intersting idea.  I had not really considered this option because it would 'only be 15mm' but on reflection a 'good' 15mm would be rather nice and much better than a mediocre 12...
