Re: @Dr_Jon - Thanks for Great Comparison

Even with FF sometimes you just can't get shallow enough DoF... I posted this somewhere else earlier today...

I sometimes find even f1.2 on FF has too much DoF for what I want. For example in the darker Winter months I can leave the GH3 at home and take my Canon FF with the 85/1.2 out, as it never gets too dull for that. However I’ve had a number of cases where even at f1.2 the DoF is just too much. Examples:

A flotilla on the River Thames for an event. The centre of the River is around 140m from the paths beside it in Central London. At f1.2 and focused at 140m the DoF will extend from 80m to 550m, so you’re stuck with all the clutter on the far bank in focus.

At a much closer distance I tried to isolate Marble Arch, but if you get the whole Arch in the shot you won’t get a blurry background at f1.2, just clutter – well, unless something went wrong and everything’s blurry

I didn't mention that I did a Bokehrama of Marble Arch, equivalent to a 22mm lens at f0.31 (on FF, from 99 pics at f1.2) and the DoF was still too much with the whole Arch in the resulting 23,771 x 11,272 picture... Which is a shame as the perspective has great potential... (This is just a rough draft from one of the two sets of test pics I did, I gave up when I realised it wasn't working. Yes that's a bus, not a red blur... I just looked at the full-res version and the ad on the side of the bus is for "Denim Studio".)
