Nikon Df: Nikon D4 performance at half the price

Reading a lot of the forum comments, there are a lot for the camera and some against it especially because of the pricing. I am wondering if many of those concerned about the pricing are not reading it in context of where the camera is positioned - those who would normally own or consider purchasing the Nikon D4 camera but do not require all the bells and whistles.

Taking a look at some of the raw specs and pricing between the D4 and the new Df:

11fps - 5.5fps

51 focus points - 39 focus points

15 cross type - 9 cross type

2 storage slots - 1 storage slot

video - no video

1.3kg body weight - 710g body weight

$6000 D4 body only - $3000 - Df with 50mm

Look at the Canon 1Dx. This has faced sales competition from photographers who are satisfied from the performance of the cheaper full frame and high-end APS-C Canon cameras such as the 70, 7D, 5Dmk2.

A lot of buyers will be happy to have the D4 performance in a stylish, ergonomic, half the weight and a much smaller size package that is compatible with the Nikon F lens they can put on it and and comes with a plethora of system accessories.

I think in this context, the Nikon Df camera makes a lot of sense. It is a stripped down Nikon D4 on the cheap for the more casual, yet demanding user and the company is positioning itself to ensure their full frame lineup caters for this group.
