I enjoyed this article. Too bad he didn't mention the Pentax ApsC primes. The article is called "The Full Frame Debate" just in case I don't get the URL to post.

Cheers, Robert

I hate to say it, but Thom has become more and more grumpy as years passed by. As a former Nikon shooter, I used to read his website during the mid-00's but as years went along, he became more and more critical on mostly everything Nikon and other manufacturers were doing. I stopped reading his website afterwards.

I think it is fair to say that companies seek for diversification in their respective product lineups, and what is about to happen should have occurred a while ago for companies like Olympus, Pentax, and Fuji, i.e., going full frame, which is most likely the future standard format.

In order to be competitive, one needs to diversify. Three products lines (or even 4) make actually quite some good sense, namely, one class for beginners, one class for intermediate, and one or two classes for serious shooters and professionals. Full Frame is part of the latter class, and this is where the competition is the fieriest.

As far as I am concerned, debating Full Frame remains pointless, it will provide better IQ than any smaller formats, but will be inferior to medium format.

I think 2014 seems to be even more promising than 2013.

Photography is about time, space, expression, and - ultimately - capturing light. This formula may sound easy, but actually capturing the "ideal" photograph is far more complex to accomplish as our own perceptions and responses vary according to each individual. Photography is inherently driven by human subjectivity, but the general feeling is that a superb photograph is widely appreciated, as it commonly depicts a striking and universal concept. I believe this process should be sought by many of us, who deeply enjoy capturing and sharing photographs that embrace life and depict what we are.
