Gondolier on a break?

Not a tranquil place compared to early morning - the tourists came...some appear to be overwhelmed. The winged Lion of St. Mark is gracing one of the columns; a dragon, the alligator-looking creature - the other column

All 400+ gondolas in Venice are tightly controlled by the city government. They are slightly lopsided and bow out on the left to compensate for the weight of the gondolier.
