Can I just say I told you so Mft mirrorless has been stronger in the last 3 months of the year. I believe Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji are racing ahead of their mirrorless rivals, DSLRs are slowly dying and compacts are in total free fall.

Yes, well it is perhaps wise to put a bit of perspective on the statistics.

In September

Compacts = 12x mirroless unit sales

DSLRs = 4x mirrorless sales.

For the first 9 months mirrorless = about 10% of the digital camera market.

Total shipments of mirrorless in the first 9 months of the year were approximate US$720m worldwide. With 8 manufacturers in the market, that means each manufacturer has shipped less than an average of US$100m of mirrorless.

Really mirrorless only makes up something of a rounding error in the market.

The average selling price of a compact is $100 with very little margin if any and no hope of the purchaser buying additional lenses.

OK so DSLRs have lost 20% of their potential market, I would be worried....

Mirrorless is in the best percentage of the market

Your use of average in this scenario is pretty awful do you really think US$100m each of EOS M's, Nikon 1's, Pentax Q and Samsung NX's have shipped???

More likely Olympus US$240m , Panasonic US$180m, Sony US$140m, Fuji US$90m, Nikon US$30m, Pentax US$30m and Canon US$20m????
