Who would buy the GX7 without the EVF for $200 less? Since some people do not want or require an EVF and would like a smaller/cheaper camera, wouldn't it be nice to have that option. I would rather have 5-axis image stabilization and weather sealing, IMHO.

Sounds like you want an EP5.

Not really, the EP-5 kit is even WAY over priced and suffers too much from Shutter Shock (according to many). It has almost No grip, too big and ugly, especially with the clip on EVF, confusing menu, etc, etc, etc…

EP-5 for $1,449 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Olympus%20E-P5

VS

GX7 for $998 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Panasonic%20LUMIX%20GX7

Once the price on the GX7 hits about $799 with the 12-32mm lens as a kit and the new 15mm lens it out, I will be taking a serious look at it. Hopefully the new Oly compact 35-100mm will be as good or better than the Pany one, what would make a great small/light 3 lens kit. IF there are no unforeseen issues with either camera or any of those new lenses of course.

1 - why would you compare the price of the EP5 w/ 17mm and the GX7 with 14-42mm, but not the GX7 w/ 20mm?

2 - how the EP5 functions with EVF is irrelevant in this context since from the beginning you were talking about NO EVF.
