Still not giving up on the 70-300

Been bugging mostly the past month and decided to do a quick Sunday morning of birds for a change. Thanks, Vickie for the thread, and sorry for exceeding your 3 pic "rule".

The 1st 4 are 50% crops from the 70-300 on my Canon while the last is a mere 10% crop from an FZ-150 for comparison purposes.

Lesser Coucal (non-breeding) .. he's seen something in the scrub ..

.. and moves in for a closer look ..

.. and pounces !!

Yum .. er .. this was further cropped by another 20%. So would this be called a 70% or 30% crop compared to the original? I'm so confused by the jargon especially when some people call an uncropped photo a 100% crop! Logically there'd be nothing left from this ! Or am I being a total idiot here

And for comparison, this had 10% of the original image removed, from the FZ-150. Biggest diff with the DSLR lens other than the image size would be the color
