I do long distance bike tours where a shot is now or never. What is the best way for me to set up my new ZS30 to be able to most quickly grab a shot AND have it geotagged? Can I leave it on, sleeping, with lens retracted in my bag, then quickly pull it out and use it without GPS having to locate?

I have found that turning on the GPS LOG as well as the GPS function seems to hold the position better when on the move. True for cars and even airplanes but I have not tried it on a bike where I would guess it will work very well. It does however take a heavy toll on the battery. Displaying the logged route on Google Earth and viewing pictures on the camera with the route displayed are other benefits. All described in the detailed camera manual. Do download the detailed map information from the CD for the area you are in.
