hi
is there a hidden menu for checking shutter count or age of camera on the nx300
There may be a hidden menu but if there is, someone would have to post the "secret" button presses that allow it to be accessed. The normal place to store the shutter count is in the section of the EXIF data called Maker Notes. All of Samsung's cameras that I've seen have a small fraction of the EXIF data that other camera manufacturers save, but the Maker Notes section is shockingly small. It often duplicates some of the EXIF data seen in the main EXIF data section, such as ISO, White Balance, etc. Below is the data in the Maker Notes sections of the NX300 and Nikon's D700, where the D700's shutter count has been emphasized. Fuji and some other manufacturers can tell you shutter counts if you send them your camera, but if you need the shutter count to make purchasing decisions this wouldn't be a practical solution even if Samsung agrees to provide the same service if you send them an NX300.
