I've tried a few nifty fifties since getting the NEX-7 last summer. I tried Minolta MD 50/1.7, Chinon, Fujinon 50/1.4, Canon FDn 1.4, Canon FL 55/1.2, Minolta MC Rokkor PG 50/1.4, Olympus OM 50/1.7, Olympus 50/2.8 and Micro-Nikkor 55/3.5. They're definitely not all equal!

I eventually came full circle to the 50mm I've had for 24 years: a very old (pre-AI) Nikkor 50/1.4. Not the best BOKEH (I prefer the Minolta MC Rokkor for that) but it seems to have a distinct edge for sharpness at infinity. It was and again is my main telephoto for landscapes. This frame printed nicely with more than ample detail:

Pine Forest Range, Nevada

My advice? Just try out every cheapie you can get your hands on and boil down to a favorite.
