Low-light video: clips totally different viewed on camera and on computer?

Hey everyone:

Wondering if someone here has a second to help a total noob. Just bought an NX1000, with the intention of using it largely for fairly low-light digital video.

Spent several hours shooting today in a dark basement, with the subject lit mostly by one white Japanese paper lantern. The clips looked great on the camera display, but when I imported them to my MacBook Pro afterwards, they were all super noisy and unusable. I tried importing them with FCPX first, and then with Image Capture, with the same result each time.

I know, it was dark, and I set the ISO to "auto", so what should I expect, right? Just mystified as to why I'd get such completely different results on the camera and on my laptop (not to mention the fact that I shot a similar video, only slightly better lit, last week without any issues).

Anyone have an idea as to what I might have done wrong, or how to fix it? Thanks!
