I've been using an Epson V500 for the last year or so and have been very happy with it. While I'm sure that some dedicated film scanners may produce a somewhat better result, from what I'm seeing in my scans I can't imagine it being that much better. At least with 35mm, the resolution limit of the film kicks in before the scanner's does, so that's good enough for me. A key point in getting good scans though is getting comfortable with the software and understanding its strong and weak points. That takes some practice and time, but it makes a bigger difference than the gear I feel.
