A small compact full frame with those absolutely gorgeous 24 and 36mp sensors is very tempting.

How many are tempted?

I'm tempted but will probably not succumb.

The camera is surprisingly compact, but with lenses is still going to be significantly heavier than the X-E2.

The pricing of the A7 looks very good with the kit lens. but when put together with the two high quality zoom lenses --- the 20-70mm and the 70-200mm --- the total cost would be more than $4,000 (perhaps a lot more since we don't have a definite price for the 70-200mm), as compared with around $2,000 for the X-E2 with the corresponding lenses.

We have two opposing forces at work at the moment. On the one hand, improvements in sensor quality are making smaller sensor cameras more attractive. On the other hand, the size and weight reduction from the development of mirrorless cameras is making larger sensor cameras more attractive.

I think the sensors in the X series cameras have considerable improvement left in them, whereas I don't think the size reduction of mirrorless cameras has as far to go, particularly with respect to lenses.

Regarding sensors, we have these on the horizon:

The second article doesn't reference Fuji, but Fuji and Panasonic are obviously working together, so there is a good chance that Fuji will have access to the second innovation.
